A tax setting can comprise a combination of taxes each with a different rate of tax if that is applicable. In the Tax Rates window there are two panels. One covers direct tax that are broadly grouped under consumption or production taxes, and one covers single income tax rates. Taxes on Consumption include Customs duty, Federal GST, Federal VAT, GST, HST, State GST, and State VAT. Taxes on Production include Excise duty, HST, Purchase Tax, and Sales Tax Single Rates of Income Tax include Capital Gains, Distribution tax, Dividend tax, Income tax, Tax on Interest, Royalty tax, Solidarity tax, and WHT (Withholding tax). When a tax type or a tax rate is changed or a new type and rate set, the "Ok to Use" button is disabled and the letter to the right of the name will change to "N". The letter that appears beside a name an on its right may be: (1) "O" to signify that the name and tax setting were formed when the software was installed. (2) "D" to signify that the name and or the tax settings have been changed and saved. (3)"U" to signify that the name and or the tax settings have been changed and set to be used. This is a temporary tax setting that will be erased when the calculator is closed. (3)"N" to signify that the name and or the tax settings have been changed. Any changes made or any new setting formed may restored to that which existed before the new setting was formed by using the Restore button.
