The calculator can assess up to 20 user defined tax settings. In addition any permanent tax setting may be changed for temporary use, or reset to a new permanent (saved) tax setting. A saved or temporary tax setting may use 1, 2 or 3 different tax types, each of which may have a different tax rate. The calculator allows for taxes like PST to be set as a charge on retail price plus a tax like GST. The picture above shows that when the calculator is working a tax calculator, it will automatically switch between arithmetic calculations and tax calculations. Depending on whether a tax calculation or an arithmetic calculation is being undertaken, the keyboard’s Enter key links atomically with either the calculator’s Calculate Tax button or to the calculator’s Equals button. The Output panel displays the result of a tax calculation whether or not the tape list is on or off. Any of the figures in this panel may be copied by using the right mouse button when the mouse cursor is over the relevant figure. When the tape list if off, the result from an arithmetic calculation is shown in the Numerical Input box. The figure in the Numerical Input box may also be copied. The base from which a tax computation is started may be changed by turning the tape off with a click on the Tape On check box. This opens the Input base panel. In the example the base may be changed then from the Tax Exclusive basis to either the GST Tax basis or to PST Tax basis or to the Tax Inclusive basis. After completing a calculation, there is no need to clear the numerical input box to start the next computation unless the C/F check box is On. By just entering a number the numerical input box is automatically cleared before the new number is placed in the input box. Where the C/F check box is on, a key press on a operator (like plus or times etc) carries the result of the previous calculation in to the next arithmetical calculation. |
