When the calculator is opened on the first occasion after it has been installed on the computer, it loads a set of tax types and rates that are based on the country name chosen by the user. This information is only provided as a guide and may be out of date or otherwise unsuitable or inaccurate. Use the Tax Options tab to check and set the Year 1 and Year 2 direct tax settings that you require. Also use the Income Tax Rates tab to check the Year 1 and Year 2 income tax settings.

The tax name, and the associated tax settings that are used when the calculator is opened, is highlighted on the Tax Options tab by a blue star (like this *) next to the option button for the name.

The settings that are loaded when the calculator is opened are in the panel at the top and on the right of the Tax Options tab. This panel is just above the picture. The caption to this panel will read Current Settings or either Year 2 Settings or Year 1 Settings. The title Current Settings depicts a temporary setting that will be lost when the calculator is closed.

To load a saved tax setting, use the Year 1 button or the Year 2 button.

To change the settings shown in the panel above the picture, use the Change Name and Currency Symbol button.

To change the tax type and tax rate for temporary use, first select one of the four options in the Tax Name panel. Selecting an option in the Tax Name panel activates the Tax Rate panel. Use either the drop-down list or the keyboard’s numbers and decimal separator to enter a tax rate. If not for temporary use, save the new tax setting.

Use the options in the Class panel so set the input box focus. If this setting is the Exclusive, or Tax, or Inclusive option, it may be saved as part of the Year 2 setting. That setting will then mark it as the input box that will receive the focus when the calculator is next started (opened).
