The calculator switches automatically between arithmetic and tax calculations. When the calculator’s Equals button (=) has a light red background colour, the calculator is working as an arithmetic calculation. When the calculator’s Calculate button has a light red background colour, the calculator becomes a tax calculator. The keyboard’s Entry key links with the button that has a light red background colour, be it the Equals button or the Calculate button. The input box that has the focus for numerical data entry has a yellow background colour. Any of the input boxes that has a white background may be accessed by moving the mouse pointer to the chosen input box and then a click on the left mouse button. Alternatively, use the options buttons on the lower left side of the calculator. The memory display panel is activated by a click on the S button. Another click on the button deactivates the memory and returns the input focus to the input box that previously had the focus. Once a ratio or percent has been set, an apportionment may be started from any of the input boxes that are in the Exclusive, or Tax, or Inclusive rows, just enter the relevant number in the selected input box and press the keyboard’s Enter key to complete the apportionment. There are other ways for starting an apportionment and these are mentioned in the program’s Help manual. Tax names, rates and types are set in the Tax Options tab.
